Named for the Richie family of German descent, the community of Richfield was actually incorporated in 1908 but lost that status during the Great Depression. Richfield regained its township status in 1947, and has been turning a new page in its history since that time. The town is located at the junction of Highways 49 and 52. Families are drawn to Richfield for the exceptional recreational amenities within the Lower Piedmont region and also just beyond their front doorstep. The community boasts a 100-acre park with nature trails, a lovely lake, and a picnic area. Residents also enjoy easy access to a growing number of privately owned recreational businesses throughout Stanly County, including batting cages, roller skating rinks, arcade games, go-kart tracks, miniature golf courses, crafts studios, driving ranges, and bowling alleys.
